Using Pictures of Your Town As Art

Author: Neish and Neil Clothing and Things / Labels:

I am from Carlsbad, New Mexico and migrated back here a few years ago. I love to change my decor with the seasons. The other day when I was driving by "The Flumes" (pictured above). I noticed it was so beautiful and at sunset, so I stopped and took pictures. I am going to do a season wall with 4 big frames hung in a square pattern and I will change the pictures in them with the seasons. These are the Fall photos I have taken. I will post how it looks in my home when we are done. P.S. Carlsbad natives, feel free to steal my photography, nothing feels like home like a pictures of the flumes!

Great Office Space!

This picture inspires me, because I tend to be a little A.D.D (haha) and it is really hard for me to find an office space that appeals to me that I could actually work in with out being distracted. This is so clean and simple, along with a very simple color palette.

I would create this look very inexpensively by getting an old chest of drawers and painting it white, then getting an old small dining table and painting it white to use as a desk. The lime on the walls is aweome. I think it would have the same nice and "cheery" effect if it were coral with white. I am really loving the desk in the middle of the room. I don't like to feel like I am placed in a corner when I am working and this feels for inviting! A beautiful space! This color is Sweet Daphne by Benjamin Moore. For a more Kelly Green try Tansy Green by Sherwin Williams.

A Lime Green Christmas

I love to find a new spin off Christmas Decor. This is so fresh looking. Instead of red and green. Try another shade of green like this lime color above. I love this look!! Simple and elegant..

Nana's Recipe for Natural Cough Medicine

Author: Neish and Neil Clothing and Things /

Well the Graham's have been a touch under the weather. So yesterday my Nana, (Merle Berry) shared this recipe with me for natural cough medicine. Those of you who know me well, know that I am all about going natural if I can. So hope you like it, here is the recipe....

Lemon Honey Cough Medicine

Put a pint of raw honey in a pan over low heat (Don't boil).
Then take a whole lemon and boil in a separate pan for 2-3 min. to soften the lemon and kill any bacteria that may be on the lemon skin.
Let the lemon cool then cut into slices and add to the honey on the stove.
Let the mixture cook on warm heat for about an hour. Strain the lemon from the honey making and make sure the seeds are removed.
Let cool and put jar with lid and store in the refrigerator. This will keep for two weeks. :)

Happy Fall Ya'll

I am not a huge fan of Halloween decor, however I love Fall decor. I threw together this fall centerpiece with some pretty things I found from "Keepin Up with the Jones" a great antique store in Carlsbad. Those girls have great ideas, (the French booth in the back is my fav!) anyway.... Those girls have great ideas like making old frames into art work with old documents, broaches and using beads for glitter. Also it is a great idea to stencil pretty swirls on pumpkins. I threw in a little unexpected surprise by adding some black crows. I love this setting. Hope you do too!

My kitchen went from Drab.... to Fab fast. I just had my cabinets painted black, and got new countertops and it make a huge difference.

I also added and island/cart that can be moved however it makes a statemen
t in the kitchen and it VERY useful!
